10 Years With Doctor Who – Ryan’s Introduction

I started watching Doctor Who back in 2003. I remember it vividly. The Doctor, Leela and a lighthouse. For all the classic fans out there, you’ll know that I’m talking about The Horror of Fang Rock. It was a repeat on UKTV Gold at the time and it’s fair to say that this story got me hooked!

I watched them all the time from then on and you can imagine my excitement when the news came around of Doctor Who’s imminent revival, Spring 2005 seemed like ages away then but it soon came along and look where we are nearly 8 years later! 3 Doctor’s, 10 Companions, 98 Stories and 2 ½ spin off’s! (The ½ being the infamous K-9.)

Choosing my favourite stories is going to prove difficult, so I’m going to split it up into eras. My favourite classic-era story is Remembrance of the Daleks. Purely for the cliff-hangers and writing styles. My favourite new series story is a draw between: Human Nature/The Family of Blood & The Sontaran Stratagem/The Poison Sky.

My favourite companion is the ever so underrated Martha Jones as she barely required the Doctor’s help during sticky situations.

So I hope you’ll enjoy my time on the blog as much as I do and I’ll look forward to giving you your Doctor Who ‘Fix.’ In the words of the 10th Doctor…“Allons y”
