Doctor Who has had a relatively late timeslot this series (with a semi-regular timeslot of 7.30pm for four consecutive episodes including Time Heist) – but it looks like the second half of the series will be going even later.
The provisional schedules for Saturday 27th September have been released – and with the new series of Strictly Come Dancing starting that night, The Caretaker (episode six) has been pencilled in for Doctor Who‘s latest ever slot. The Caretaker is currently scheduled for 8.30pm that night (after Strictly), and set to conclude at 9.15pm – far later than the norm for Who.
While the schedules are yet to be fully confirmed (they’ll be locked in on Wednesday), it’s a decent indication that the final seven episodes of Series 8 will be airing in the later slot occupied previously by Merlin and Atlantis. It means a clash with The X Factor for the full episode, but with a very strong lead in, it’s likely Doctor Who’s ratings will increase.
We’ll bring you the confirmed time on Wednesday, where the timeslot could still be changes significantly.
