Following many months of speculation and rumours, the BBC have now confirmed that a number of early episodes of Doctor Who have been located and returned.
BBC Worldwide is expected to confirm the find at a press screening in London later this week. Details of how fans will be able to access and watch these newly recovered episodes are also expected to be revealed within the week.
It is currently unknown how many episodes were recovered, though reports of at least 100 episodes being found are thought to be greatly exaggerated. A total of 106 episodes, starring William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton, were lost after the transmission tapes were wiped. The latest finds come just in time for Doctor Who’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.
