Big Finish reveals cast of The War Master

For those eagerly awaiting more information about Big Finish’s The War Master, the wait is over! Big Finish has recently revealed the cast list along with a trailer for the new highly anticipated stories.

Once again Derek Jacobi reclaims the iconic role of the Master. His portrayal of the Master in the BBC television series was praised by many. Utopia was his first and only appearance in this role during his time with the television series. However, now fans can finally experience more of this Master’s adventures via Big Finish audio drama.

Of course what else could the War Master be facing during this time of war if not the dreaded Daleks? The Daleks will of course will be played by none other than Nicholas Briggs. Though I think these terrifying villains may have their work cut out for them if the trailer (see below) is any notion on what to expect from this version of the Master.

These aren’t the only familiar voices you’ll hear in this drama. Jacqueline King who played Sylvia Noble in series 4, and Nerys Hughes who played Rhys mother in the Torchwood series will also be present. Not to mention tons of other popular Big Finish audio talents from past series.

This storyline will feature 4 stories, each by a different writer and spanning approximately 300 minutes and 5 discs in length. Here are the official Synopses for each story:

1. Beneath the Viscoid by Nicholas Briggs

On the ocean planet Gardezza, deep beneath the Viscoid, a mysterious capsule is recovered from the Time War, and an equally mysterious stranger found within. The Doctor’s reputation precedes him, even here… but can he be trusted?

2. The Good Master by Janine H Jones

The Time War rages around Arcking – a planet serving as a sanctuary for the sick and injured. But Arcking is protected by a mysterious, powerful force: a force the Master will stop at nothing to harness… even if time itself is against him.

3. The Sky Man by James Goss

When his new companion decides to save a planet, the Master indulges this most futile of requests. Materialising on a primitive, agrarian world, both the strangers quickly find their place in it… until fallout from the War invades their happy paradise.

4. The Heavenly Paradigm by Guy Adams

With his plans approaching fruition, the Master travels to Stamford Bridge in the 1970s: a location he believes might hold the key to his success. But what terrible secret lurks under the stairs of No. 24 Marigold Lane? And what sacrifices will the Master make in the name of ultimate victory?
