Breaking News: Jenna Coleman Is Leaving Doctor Who

The BBC have officially confirmed that Jenna Coleman, who plays Clara Oswald, will be leaving Doctor Who during series 9.

Jenna Coleman has played Clara since 2012, serving as one of the longest running companions in the show. She announced on BBC Radio 1 that she has already filmed her final scenes as Clara. There are no details on exactly when or how Clara will leave and the BBC have not announced who will be taking over the role of companion.

It has also been announced that Jenna will star as a young Queen Victoria in the new ITV drama series Victoria, an 8-part drama that follows the early life of Queen Victoria.

Jenna Coleman said of getting the role:

“I am delighted to be cast as Queen Victoria in this ambitious drama of her life. She is a vivid, strong, inspirational and utterly fascinating woman in British history and I can’t wait to tell her story.”
