The Exhibtiton, which is currently located in ‘The Red Dragon Centre’ has had over half a million visitors since opening in 2005.

BBC Worldwide have recently recently a “significantly bigger and more interactive” Doctor Who experience would open at a new Cardiff location in 2012.

The full press release can be seen below with news that the Newcastle Exhibition will close on October 31st 2010 and the Museum at Lands End in Cornwall will close it’s doors on 31st December 2010.

After very successful runs and hundreds of thousands of delighted visitors, the exhibitions in Newcastle and Land’s End will close on 31 October and 31 December 2010 respectively, whilst the flagship Cardiff attraction will close on 27 March, 2011. BBC Worldwide is delighted that its relationship with the home of the show will continue as we develop a new and larger Doctor Who attraction which we plan to open in Cardiff in 2012 at a new site. We have consulted with the City Council for the past 18 months regarding our plans and we are confident that the new attraction’s features, size and location will draw many more fans to the Welsh capital from across the UK. Further details regarding the new Cardiff attraction will be included in the upcoming announcement.
