In an interview with Doctor Who Magazine #487, Carole Ann Ford revealed that she would return to the role of Susan in a heartbeat. When asked, she said:
“Of course! Are you kidding?
They invited us to the studios in Cardiff [during the filming of ‘Last Christmas’]. It was great. It was lovely to meet Peter [Capaldi]. A lovely man.
“…[Peter] started saying, ‘Oh, you should come back!’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’d love to come back!’ He was running around the TARDIS saying, ‘She’s got to come back! She’s got to come back!’”
It sounds as though Carole Ann isn’t the only one interested in the prospect of a reunion for Susan and her grandfather! Although it’s been fifty-one years since Susan exited the TARDIS, the Doctor did promise he would return one day . . .
Ford said of her first impression of Capaldi’s incarnation of the Doctor:
“I had seen some of the performances he’d done as Doctor Who and I didn’t like the way they wrote him at the beginning. I thought, ‘What’s going on here? Give him a chance!’ They portrayed him as someone who was so prickly.”
Rather like the First Doctor, in some ways. Would you like to see Susan return, even just in a cameo appearance? Let us know below!
