Unofficial overnight viewing figures show that this years Doctor Who Christmas Special, ‘The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe’ achieved 8.9 million viewers with an audience share of 34.2% and an Appreciation Index, or AI, score of 84.
Reports show that Doctor Who was the third most watched show on Christmas Day. EastEnders made it to the top spot with nearly 10 million (9.9 million) tuning in. Coronation Street just beat Doctor Who with 9.0 million viewers.
Meanwhile Downton Abbey took the fourth spot with 8.1 million viewers.
