In the BBC’s announcement, Moffat said:
We are so excited to have Daisy as the new companion. She was high on our list, but we honestly didn’t think she’d say yes as she’s so busy with Star Wars. However, she was very keen to do it so we’ve found a way to work around the schedules.
Ridley herself added:
I’m thrilled to be part of this show. I wasn’t really a fan when I was younger, but I started watching the last few series and really enjoyed them. I love Peter and can’t wait to work with him!
