Doctor Who: 50th Anniversary Trailer Debuts At Comic-Con

“This fall, the Doctor will face his darkest day: Himself.”

Fans attending the San Diego Comic-Con watched the premiere of the trailer for Doctor Who’s 50th Anniversary special, starring Matt Smith, David Tennant and John Hurt as the Doctor. Though the trailer has not yet been officially released online, the first few details have leaked through tonight from those lucky enough to see it.

“I’ve had many faces,” Smith’s Doctor says as the trailer opens. “Many lives. I don’t admit to all of them. There’s one life I’ve tried very hard to forget.”

Forgetting his past will be impossible, though, for it seems that together, the Doctors will have to face their greatest foe, the Daleks. In what appears to be the Time War with John Hurt’s Doctor at its midst, he tells us that “Great men are forged in fire,” and even suggests he was the one to light the flames.
There are references aplenty to previous episodes from both the new and classic series to satisfy fans; not only do we see Tennant’s Doctor channeling Patrick Troughton, but the famous fez makes a reappearance. It’s rumoured too that Daleks aren’t the only enemy from the Doctor’s past, for it seems that the Zygons are also lying in wait.

As the trailer concludes, somebody says “I’m looking for the Doctor,” as the camera pans around to show all three of them. Tennant simply shrugs and says “Well, you’ve certainly come to the right place.”
