Doctor Who: The Angels Take Manhattan – UK Overnight Ratings

Doctor Who Series 7, Episode 4: The Angels Take Manhattan had an overnight audience of 5.9 million viewers, with a 26.9% share of the total TV audience.

The audience did increase throughout the episode, peaking at 6.4 million for the last five minutes.

Doctor Who was overall second for the day, being beaten by The X Factor, which managed 8.7 million. Meanwhile Casualty achieved 3.7 million.

ITV1’s Red or Black?, which was on at the same time as Doctor Who, had 3.5 million viewers.

With Sunday’s ratings still to come, this figure places Doctor Who in 19th place for the week. We’re expecting this position to drop because of Downton Abbey, which is broadcast this evening.

Overnight figures are an estimate of those who watched the programme live, or before 2am the following day. They have become increasingly unreliable as to the true audience with many viewers watching the episode at a later time.

Final viewing figures figures, which will be available next week, will include those who watch the programme within a week.
