Doctor Who: Ben Miller to Guest Star in Series 8

Filming for episodes three and six of series eight of Doctor Who is continuing – and after the announcement of Da Vinci’s Demons star Tom Riley for episode three, the BBC have announced another big-name guest star for the third of the autumn series.

Ben Miller, star of The Armstrong & Miller Show (partner of The Doctor, the Doctor and the Wardrobe and Sarah Jane Adventures actor Alexander Armstrong), ITV’s Primeval and the BBC’s recent Death in Paradise, has been announced for a guest appearance as a villain in a Mark Gatiss episode – almost certainly episode three, which is currently filming.

Miller said of his casting:

‘As a committed Whovian I cannot believe my luck in joining the Twelfth Doctor for one of his inaugural adventures. My only worry is that they’ll make me leave the set when I’m not filming.’

Head writer Steven Moffat also provided his thoughts:

‘Mark Gatiss has written us a storming villain for his new episode, and with Capaldi in the TARDIS, we knew we needed somebody special to send everybody behind the sofa. And quite frankly, it’s about time Ben Miller was in Doctor Who!’

Episode three of the current run has been rumoured to be a Robin Hood-themed episode titled Robots of Sherwood.
