Doctor Who’s Matt Smith has confirmed that filming will begin for his final episode as the Doctor this coming Sunday (September 8th). The episode has been penned by showrunner Steven Moffat and will see Smith regenerate into the Twelfth Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi.
Smith, who recently shaved his head for his role in the upcoming Ryan Gosling film ‘How To Catch A Monster’ spoke to ITV’s Daybreak at last night’s GQ Awards, where he also explained he will have to wear a wig once filming commences.
“I [cut my hair] for a film, but it means I have to wear a wig in Doctor Who, which is a nightmare.
“I’m excited – I start shooting the Christmas special [on] Sunday. It’ll be sad – the end of a wonderful era!”
Doctor Who will return to TV screens for Smith’s penultimate adventure as the Doctor, in the show’s 50th Anniversary special on November 23rd.
