We’ve had three directors confirmed for series eight of Doctor Who so far – Ben Wheatley, Douglas Mackinnon and Paul Murphy (who have helmed or will helm two episodes each) – and it looks like a fourth director has signed on for the new series – Paul Wilmshurst.
Wilmshurst, a new director for the show, was listed on the CV of head production designer at Who, Michael Pickwoad, seemingly confirming him for the new series. Wilmshurst’s work in TV includes episodes of US shows Strike Back: Shadow Warfare and Da Vinci’s Demons, as well as episodes of Law and Order: UK and Silent Witness.
It’s unknown what episodes Wilmshurst will direct – the first six episodes are taken by the aforementioned directors, so it’s reasonable to assume Wilmshurst could be directing Episodes 7 & 8 – but don’t take our word for it just yet.
Doctor Who series eight airs in autumn 2014 on BBC One.
