The consolidated viewing figures for episode five of Series 9, The Girl Who Died, have been released.
The episode had 6.56 million viewers after a week of recordings – that’s a rise of just under two million (1.93 million) on the overnight figure of 4.63 million. That’s a rise of over half a million on Before the Flood, and the highest final rating so far this series, just beating The Magician’s Apprentice.
Doctor Who was the eleventh most watched programme on BBC One for the week, behind two episodes of Strictly Come Dancing, two episodes of The Apprentice, DIY SOS, four episodes of EastEnders and Countryfile. The episode finished at around 19th for the week in the charts, the highest chart placing since the series opener.
