The consolidated viewing figures for the Series 9 finale, Hell Bent, have been released.
The finale had 6.17 million viewers after a week of recordings, a rise of 1.7 million on the accurate overnight figure of 4.47 million viewers. That’s nearly identical to Heaven Sent, and one of the stronger ratings this season. It leaves the final ratings average for Series 9 at 6.03 million.
Doctor Who was the tenth most watched programme of the week on BBC One after two episodes of Strictly Come Dancing, Countryfile, four episodes of EastEnders, The Apprentice and Antiques Roadshow. It was 29th overall for the week – a placing that was heavily depressed by the seven editions of hit reality show I’m a Celebrity, all of which made the top ten.
