The BBC has today revealed its first look at the Thirteenth Doctor’s new costume.
The new image, which was released via the official Doctor Who Twitter account, shows Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor continuing what has become somewhat of a tradition of sporting a long coat and boots.
A pair of mustard braces echoes the outfit choices of several previous Doctors – notably Patrick Troughton and Matt Smith – with blue cropped trousers and a black top with central stripes completing the look.
As well as the Doctor’s new look, the TARDIS – in which Whittaker’s Doctor will be joined by no fewer than three new companions in the upcoming eleventh series – has also undergone a slight change in image, with the colours on its iconic ‘PULL TO OPEN’ sign now inverted.
Whittaker is set to make her debut as the Thirteenth Doctor when she takes over from outgoing Doctor Peter Capaldi during this year’s Christmas Special, Twice Upon A Time. As with previous regenerations, however, we are unlikely to see Whittaker in her new costume on-screen until the beginning of her first full series, due to air in Autumn 2018.
