The longlist for the National Television Awards 2018 has been revealed today, with Doctor Who featuring in two categories.
Up in the Drama Performance category are Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi – who is set to depart the show in this year’s Christmas special, Twice Upon A Time – and Pearl Mackie, who starred in the most recent tenth series as companion Bill Potts. The pair feature in the category alongside former Doctor Who stars David Tennant (Broadchurch) and Jenna Coleman (Victoria), as well as future Doctor Jodie Whittaker, who is nominated for her roles in both Broadchurch and Trust Me.
Doctor Who itself is nominated for best Drama along with Victoria, Trust Me and Matt Smith’s The Crown. Broadchurch features in the brand new Crime Drama category, as does Sherlock, created and penned by Doctor Who writers Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss.
Voting in the NTA longlist is now open and closes at 11pm on Friday 27th October, with voting for the shortlist due to open in the New Year. The 23rd National Television Awards will be broadcast live from the O2 on Tuesday 23rd January 2018, hosted by Dermot O’Leary.
