In an interview with ABCRadioNational, Mark Gatiss discussed his current projects, including series 9 of Doctor Who. He spoke about the episode he wrote for the series, which will be the ninth episode and Doctor Who’s first-ever found-footage episode. Gatiss said of the difficulties of this new format:
“Well I’ve had this story in my mind for a long time. It’s set in the future. It’s all from different points of view, which has not been done before on Doctor Who.
It’s been quite a challenge to make because you have to break a lot of the usual rules in terms of what you can actually show. Anything you can do to shake the format up is very exciting and that’s what we’ve done.”
Doctor Who returns to our screens with “The Magician’s Apprentice” next Saturday, 19 September at 7.40 p.m. on BBC One and 9 p.m. EST/8 p.m. CST on BBC America.
