After days of speculation, the BBC have finally announced the details of Mission Dalek, a brand new project that gives fans the opportunity to create their own digital adventure for the Doctor as part of the BBC’s Make It Digital scheme.
The Doctor will face his oldest and greatest enemies in the forthcoming series, but what has led him to face the Daleks once more? Audiences are invited to create their own story from scratch, either using new alien enemies from their imaginations, or using pre-existing footage and images of enemies such as the Daleks or Missy. Mission Dalek provides the perfect opportunity for audiences to create their own passionate adventures.
“Lost in space and time without his TARDIS, the Doctor is trying to make contact. The only clues as to where he is are in his 2000 Year Diary, located in the TARDIS Core. Use these clues to create your very own #MissionDALEK adventure to tell us how the Doctor comes face-to face with the Daleks once again.”
Participants are encouraged to be as creative as possible through digital tools such as video, animation or image editing. The BBC have supplied a number of video and image packs, which can all be found along with further details on the Mission Dalek page.
Furthermore, for UK participants there is an exciting competition in which the winner will be able to visit the Doctor Who set and meet Peter Capaldi. The entries must be no longer than 90 seconds long and should feature either the BBC’s rights-cleared asset packs provided through the website, or own audience creations. The creations also must be sent in to the BBC before Wednesday 9th September 2015. More information about the competition including full terms and conditions can be found on the BBC website.
Those living outside of the UK are also encouraged to participate in the Global Celebration, where the creators of the favourite digital stories will receive a follow on Twitter from the official BBC Doctor Who account.
The BBC have released an introductory video for the Mission Dalek project, which can be viewed below:
