The overnight viewing figures for last night’s Doctor Who finale, The Name of the Doctor, have been released.
The episode had 5.5 million viewers and a share of 26% of the overall audience. That’s a huge rise of 800k on last week’s episode, Nightmare in Silver, and a great figure, considering that the episode was also up against Britain’s Got Talent for 15 minutes.
The Name of the Doctor was the third most watched programme of the day – after The Eurovision Song Contest and Britain’s Got Talent.
The consolidated viewing figures will be released next week, where the figures should rise to above seven million.
