Episode ten of series nine is now filming, and the BBC have released some brand new details of the episode, including a returnee from Series 8 and a new writer!
Joivan Wade, who played graffiti artist Rigsy in last year’s Flatline, has been confirmed to return in episode ten of the new series. The BBC have also announced that the writer of the episode is another newbie to the series, in the form of Sarah Dollard.
Dollard has written episodes of Toby Whithouse’s Being Human and The Game for the BBC, and has also worked on fellow Saturday night family genre dramas Merlin and Primeval. She is the second new writer for Series 9, after Catherine Tregenna, and marks the second female writer on the series since 2008 (along with Tregenna). In a statement, Dollard commented:
‘Getting to play in the Doctor Who toy box is a dream come true. It’s a total honour to contribute to a show that has brought me such joy as a fan. However, writing for Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman has presented a serious problem: some days I’ve been too excited to actually sit down and type!’
Series 9 of Doctor Who will air in the autumn.
