Series 10 of Doctor Who has officially been confirmed by the BBC Worldwide Annual Review released yesterday. The confirmation is hidden on page 32, stating:
“During the year matters under review include plans to launch the global genre brands BBC first in Australia and New Zealand on Foxtel and BBC Brit and BBC Earth in Poland; and investments in the Musketeers S3 and Doctor Who S10.”
The report also states that Doctor Who was the top selling BBC program of the 2014/15 year. Series 8 brought in the shows highest ratings to date, with an average of 2.2m viewers each week and 19.7% higher ratings than the series prior. It’s licensing sales on the title returned year-on-year growth at 29.1%.
The show has gained a high social media aspect as well, with Doctor Who: The World Tour bringing in 130m Facebook post impressions and 2m video views on both Facebook and YouTube. Doctor Who is the number one TV brand on Tumblr, and is ranked on Twitter within the top five most-tweeted about original dramas.
