Doctor Who: Series 8 Box Set Postponed Due To Reclassification

BBC Worldwide has announced that the DVD and Blu-ray release of Series 8 has been reclassified by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) due to the nature of scenes from Dark Water.
This also means that the boxset will now be released on 24th November, a week later than planned. A BBC Worldwide spokesperson said:

“On Friday, October 31, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) classified episode 11 – ‘Dark Water’ – with a ’12’ rating.

This necessitated a reprint of the DVD cover so that the correct rating could be reflected, thereby delaying the on-sale date by one week.”

The BBC have previously defended the episode after complaints from viewers regarding the subjects covered in the story.
Previously, the first, second, fourth, sixth and seventh series received the same classification from BBFC, while the third and fifth series were both rated PG.
