An article from news website The Guardian has reported that series eight of Doctor Who, the first series to feature Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, will air in autumn 2014.
The latest Top 100 list from Media Guardian contained an entry about Steven Moffat, which said:
Doctor Who may not be quite the force it was when it returned with Christopher Eccleston and in its David Tennant heyday in the UK, but has a growing audience in the US on cable channel BBC America.
It will not return next year until the autumn, giving it plenty of time to recharge batteries. And what better way to do that than with a new Doctor?
Filming has already been confirmed for January 2014, so we should be looking at a September 2014 air date for Peter Capaldi’s first series. Reports have suggested that the series will not be split, but will be 12 episodes long instead of the usual thirteen – but expect official clarification from the BBC within the next few months.
