Doctor Who Series 8 To Begin Filming In January

Doctor Who’s Jenna Coleman has confirmed that the next series of Doctor Who is scheduled to begin filming in January 2014. Coleman, who plays companion Clara Oswald, spoke to Zap 2 It about her current filming commitments and what she is doing until Doctor Who begins again.

“It still feels very much like I’m at the beginning, but what’s quite nice is I’m working on [Death Comes to Pemberley] at the moment. I sort of have a break and then I have another break, after Matt [Smith] goes, later in the year because I know I’m not shooting [Doctor Who] until January [2014]. It means I get to explore other projects and come back, and that keeps me very happy.”

Series 8 will be the first full series featuring the Twelfth Doctor, Peter Capaldi, who will make his debut in this year’s Christmas special following the regeneration of Matt Smith’s Doctor. As yet there is no confirmed date or schedule for when the new series will return to television screens.
