Doctor Who Tops American Cable TV Saturday Night

After his recent whirlwind tour stop in New York several days ago, Peter Capaldi enjoyed another warm welcome in the States this weekend.

Not only did Deep Breath become BBC America’s highest rated series premiere, it was the top rated program on cable TV in the US. It drew 2.2 million viewers and nearly half were in the coveted Adults 25-54 demographic. That shows a 46% growth in viewers from The Bells of Saint John in March 2013.

The Doctor also held reign as the top television show over Twitter and Tumblr, also making BBC America the top mentioned US TV channel.
