Doctor Who: Two Nominations for 2015 Saturn Awards

While the once impressively large crop of sci-fi and fantasy shows in the UK has slowly dried up, the genre is continuing to grow over the pond – with sci-fi and fantasy shows such as The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones being some of the most popular shows on US TV.

However, despite the tough competition, Doctor Who has received two nominations in the prestigious 2015 Saturn Awards, which celebrate science-fiction, fantasy and horror shows. The Saturn Awards take place on 25th June.

While Peter Capaldi missed out on an acting nomination, Jenna Coleman received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series – with the fellow nominees being Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Melissa McBride & Emily Kinney (both The Walking Dead), Lexa Doig (Continuum) and Caroline Dhavernas (Hannibal).

And for the second nomination, the show itself received a nomination in the Best Youth-Orientated Television Shows category, facing off against hits such as The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Teen Wolf, Pretty Little Liars and The 100.
