The consolidated viewing figures for episode three of Series 9, Under the Lake, have been released.
The episode had 5.63 million viewers on average after a week of recordings, a rise of 1.89 million on the overnight rating of 3.74 million. That’s slightly down on The Witch’s Familiar. As with episode two, the overnight figure was severely affected by the England Rugby World Cup match it was shown against.
Doctor Who was the 22nd most watched programme of the week (including multiple editions of certain shows) and the tenth most watched on BBC One after The Great British Bake-Off, two editions of Strictly Come Dancing, New Tricks, Countryfile and two episodes of EastEnders. The chart position is a relatively normal placing for the show, and is two places higher than last week.
BBC iPlayer views for those watching on computers or on mobile devices are not counted in this rating, though iPlayer views on a TV are.
