Doctor Who Wins Two Awards At The TVChoice Awards 2013

Doctor Who picked up two prestigious prizes at last night’s TVChoice Awards. The BBC1 series was awarded ‘Best Drama Series’, beating off stiff competition from Downton Abbey, Call The Midwife and Waterloo Road. The annual ceremony also saw the show pick up an ‘Outstanding Contribution’ award in acknowledgement of November’s 50th anniversary of the show, and showrunner Steven Moffat collected the award on behalf of the cast and crew.

Companion Jenna Coleman, who plays Clara Oswald, was beaten to the award for ‘Best Actress’ by Miranda Hart, but the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant, collected the award for ‘Best Actor’ in recognition of his work in the ITV police mystery Broadchurch.
