Doctor Who’s Paul McGann has once more refuted suggestions he could be appearing in November’s 50th Anniversary special. McGann, who played the Doctor in the 1996 movie, was asked on Twitter if there was any truth to the rumours he would appear in either the episode itself or a special prequel.
“Yes, I keep hearing similar. Truth is I didn’t so much as visit their set as I was away working. Nor was I invited to. I’ve often wondered if rumours, like jokes, aren’t all started by the same excitable child or bored old man.”
Jenna Coleman confirmed in a recent interview with Access Hollywood that filming was complete for the special episode, so if McGann is being truthful it seems he really will have no part to play in the celebrations. However, fans of the Eighth Doctor will no doubt hope his denials are nothing more than a smokescreen. Only time will tell.
