Guide to Series 7 Part 2 – Part 1

Doctor Who Series 7 Part 2 returns this April. Here is my guide to the upcoming series:

Episode 7 – Written by Steven Moffatt and directed by Colm McCarthy. Filming for this episode started early October 2012 and is the episode that was filmed in London. It is an “urban thriller” set in contemporary London and stars Celia Imrie.

Episode 8 – This episode is written by a writer that is new to Who, Neil Cross
and directed by Farren Blackburn, who directed The Doctor, The Widow & the
Wardrobe. This story finished shooting in early November. It features an
“alien planet” that, according to Jenna-Louise Coleman is “epic, overwhelming,
boiling, red-orange”.

Episode 9 – Written by Mark Gatiss and directed by Douglas MacKinnon. It stars David Warner
and Liam Cunningham. It’s a historical story and its setting is
the “fulfilment of a long-term dream” for the writer as it is set on a submarine. Steven Moffat
has called it a “classic” and warns that we will “shiver in terror.”

Episode 10 – This story has been filmed and was the first to feature Jenna in front of the
camera (this was filmed before The Snowmen). It’s written by Neil Cross and directed by Jamie Payne. It stars
Dougray Scott and
Jessica Raine. According to Steven, it’s “spooky,
clever” and “romantic”.
