Series eight of the modern era of Doctor Who is set to return to our screens on the 23rd of August 2014. But how does this stack up against your schedule for the weeks beyond? This little guide should help you.
Presuming that Doctor Who broadcasts on consecutive Saturdays without any breaks, this is how we expect the schedule to look:
23rd August – Deep Breath; The start of the series introducing Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. Written by Steven Moffat and directed by Ben Weatley.
30th August – Episode Two; Phil Ford hinted the word ‘Lasagne’ and the phrase ‘Behind enemy lines’. Written by Phil Ford and directed by Ben Wheatley.
6th Setember – Episodes Three (Rumoured Robots of Sherwood); to feature the Doctor and Clara meeting Robin Hood. Written by Mark Gatiss and directed by Paul Murphy.
13th September – Episode Four (Rumoured Listen); This episode will introduce Danny Pink as played by Samuel Anderson. Written by Steven Moffat and directed by Douglas Mackinnon.
20th September – Episode 5 (Rumoured Time Heist); The Doctor and Clara are set face of against Ms Delphox on a strange and puzzling planet. Written by Stephen Thompson and directed by Douglas Mackinnon.
27th Semptember – Episode 6; written by Gareth Roberts and directed by Paul Murphy.
4th October – Episode 7; The Doctor returns to the scene of an old adventure as filming has taken place in Lanzarote for the first time since 1984! Written by Peter Harness and directed by Paul Wilmshurst.
11th October – Episode 8; This episode is set to feature popstar Foxes singing among other high profile guest stars. The Doctor will be catching up on some phone calls. Written by Jamie Mathieson and directed by Paul Wilmshurst.
18th October – Episode 9 (Rumoured Flatline); Behind the scenes photos show the TARDIS has shrunk. Written by Jamie Mathieson and directed by Douglas Mackinnon.
25th October – Episode 10; nothing is currently known about this episode.
1st November – Episode 11; The first part of the series eight finale set to introduce the Michelle Gomez as the Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere and see the return of the Cybermen. Written by Steven Moffat and directed by Rachel Talalay.
8th November – Episode 12; The final episode of series 8 along with it’s predecessor will feature the return of Kate Stewart and Osgood. Written by Steven Moffat and directed by Rachel Talalay.
Christmas Special (Thursday 25th December); The Christmas special will most likely be written by Steven Moffat however there has been no official conformation about this episode yet.
The air times of episodes on the actual day are likely to vary and with the return of Atlantis and Strictly Come Dancing expected at some point, Doctor Who may move up or down the time slots.
