Introducing Jianzi, The Gallifrey Times’ Newest Team Member!

Hello, everybody!

I’m here today to introduce myself as one of the newest members of The Gallifrey Times team! It is an absolute honor to have been given this spectacular position with such a talented team, and I can’t wait to start aiding them in bringing our fabulous readers the latest news and media about our favourite series, Doctor Who!

Let’s start off by getting a little better acquainted with each other! My name is Jianzi Colón, and I’m currently a resident of Florida, USA. I’m so excited that I can be a part of the team while living outside of the United Kingdom! I live in America, but my family originates from the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, which is a commonwealth of the United States. I’m fluent in Spanish in addition to English, as Spanish is the native language of Puerto Rico, and I’m also a fairly adept speaker of the French language; I’ve been taking French for five years as part of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme curriculum, which is an academic programme for secondary school students. Linguistics is one of my many passions, and I plan to learn more languages in the future if given the opportunity!

In addition to languages, I’m thoroughly passionate about the arts, particularly theatre, film, singing, dancing, and writing. I’m a very avid thespian! To date, I’ve been involved in over fifteen theatrical productions, and have competed in over ten thespian competitions. I’ve had the opportunity to do everything from act, sing, and dance on the stage, to act as a stage manager, light board operator, and sound board operator. When I go to university in autumn, I plan on doing a double-major in musical theatre and linguistics!

But what about Doctor Who? Yes, we can’t forget Who, which is the reason why we’re all here! My passion for Doctor Who was sparked a little later in life, as the series didn’t begin picking up popularity in America until the Eleventh Doctor’s run. However, once I watched “Rose,” my first episode, I became so hooked that I caught up to Series 7 in less than a month! My favourite incarnations of the Doctor are Eight (even before The Night of the Doctor!), Ten, and Eleven — please don’t make me try to pick between the last two, because I just can’t do it! My favourite companions are Rose, Donna, and River, and I think my favourite episode may just be The Day of the Doctor! I’m fortunate enough to be able to say that I have a close-knit group of friends who are enthusiastic Whovians, as well as fans of other TV shows and movies such as Sherlock, Torchwood, Merlin, Supernatural, Star Trek, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, Marvel, and more. We could talk all day about our favourite series!

All in all, as an avid Whovian and an arts enthusiast, I’m beyond excited to be one of the newest members of The Gallifrey Times team! I’m so grateful to have been welcomed so warmly, and I simply cannot wait to begin bringing you news about your favourite time-and-space-traveling Doctor from Gallifrey!
