Jodie Whittaker will be keeping her Yorkshire accent for the Doctor
With the costumes and companions revealed, of the last big questions surrounding the Thirteenth Doctor has been if she will keep her accent or do a Tennant and go more neutral. Well, now we have an answer!
Soon to be former showrunner Steven Moffat revealed that Jodie Whittaker will be keeping her familiar Yorkshire accent in her role as the Thirteenth Doctor.
“You’ll spend more time in that first episode reacting to her accent than her gender. It’ll be, ‘Oh, what a big fuss… oh, she’s funny, isn’t she?… Yorkshire? Why’s she got a Yorkshire accent?’ That’s going to be it.”
Several actors playing the Doctor have previously kept their accents before in the show, including Sylvester McCoy, Christopher Eccleston and Peter Capaldi, with it being played on in the show in recent years.
