Lee Mack reveals potential Series 11 role

With work on Series 11 well underway, everything is being kept very secret by Chris Chibnall and the team. But it seems that the guest stars are just too excited to keep the secret.

Following Alan Cumming’s recent premature revelation that he will be playing James I opposite the Thirteenth Doctor in Series 11, comedian Lee Mack has also let slip that he may be appearing in the series.
The star of Not Going Out and Would I Lie To You previously expressed his desire to be in the show and it seems that, after much effort, his wish has been granted.

Mack recently appeared on Radio 4’s Loose Ends with already confirmed Series 11 star Sharon D Clarke. During the show, he let slip:

“Not only am I excited about the idea of someone being in Doctor Who, I am also possibly gonna be in it as well.”

He then added:

“I wasn’t supposed to say anything, but because [Sharon] said that I thought ‘Well I’m gonna say it then!’ Neither of us should have said it.”

According to Mack, it’s a “blink and you’ll miss it” part, but he still seems to be chuffed at the possibility of being in the show:

“I’ve just been a fan all my life, so I just harassed them until they gave me a little part in it.
“I even sent Chris, who runs the show, Chris Chibnall, a video of me getting out of my own Tardis, which I own, with a Dalek, which I own as well! And I said ‘Come on!’
It’s genuinely a true story – I’ve got a Tardis at home, it’s not bigger on the inside. And I said ‘Come on, give me a part.’ And he said ‘Alright!’ So that’s what you need to do if you want a part in something. Just send a video to someone, you’ll get the part.”

However, he quickly realised his mistake of spilling the beans, and added:

“Now I’m not gonna get the part because they’re gonna say ‘We told you not to say anything!’ But because Sharon said it I thought I’m allowed to say it.”

So, will the comedian be appearing in the show? I guess we’ll have to wait and find out.
