It may not be a missing episode, but it’s pretty damn close. The 60’s teen show The Whole Scene Going once covered the production of Daleks – Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D., the second of two Who films made in the 60’s that starred Peter Cushing, looking to escape from being typecast after his numerous roles in Hammer Horror features.
For those of you who don’t know, the 60’s films weren’t part of the larger Who continuity, and Peter Cushing isn’t technically among the 11 Doctors, much like the planned Who movie that’s being tossed around over in Hollywood right now.
Though the episode isn’t devoted to the film, it does contain some interesting tidbits. For example, it has an interview with Gordon Flemyng, the film’s director. I really like this guy. He gives his two reasons for directing the Who movies: namely that it was offered to him and that he loves “entertainment” films and thinks they’re just as important as “message” films.
The 16mm film reel, found in a private collection in Wales, was sold to the TDA and Kaleidoscope, who he dealt with to ensure a digital version was returned to the BBC archives. However, you can view a four minute clip from the show here.
