Earlier this week we reported about Brighton and Hove Council’s bus naming poll. We are pleased to announce that John Nathan-Turner has been chosen as a name for one of the 24 the new buses.
JN-T’s name was one of 9 selected from a shortlist of 31, plus an additional 15 names were selected from over one hundred submissions. John Nathan-Turner lived in the city for a number of years around the time he was working on Doctor Who.
The new buses – which will appear on route 12 along the Sussex heritage coast towards Eastbourne – will include a range of new features including low emission ‘Euro 6’ engines, free Wi-Fi, an upper deck table with USB charge points, softer seating, spoken stop information and real time tracking of bus locations.
The other names that have been selected are: Frank Bridge, Dora Bryan, Adrian Bunting , Henry Coxwell, Jonathan Darby, Dr Jan De Winter, Gracie Fields, Ian Gow, Rudyard Kipling, The Lawrence Sisters, Dame Anna Neagle, Edith Nesbitt, Don Partridge, Erin Ravilious, Ralph Reader, Bill Axcell, Zoe Brigden, Brian Cobby, George Holkham, Jamie Janes, Richard Jones, Alfred Richardson and Eric Slater.
