Earlier this year we reported on the tragic news that Sir John Hurt has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Sir John is loved by Doctor Who fans having played the part of the War Doctor in 2013’s 50th anniversary special. Speaking on Tuesday at a Man Booker Prize event in London, Sir John gave a positive update on his state of health saying:
I had a final scan and it’s all going brilliantly. I am overjoyed, I am thrilled. It all looks great for the future, it’s fantastic.
John Hurt’s agent spoke more on the subject adding a word of caution in an interview with BBC Radio Norfolk:
Sir John has been given very good news by his oncologist but it falls short of an all-clear. Nonetheless, it’s very good news.
We will continue to update fans if there is further news about Sir John, and we offer our very best wishes for his ongoing recovery.
