Showrunner Steven Moffat has seemingly ruled out a return for Amy or Rory in future episodes of Doctor Who, saying he has “no plans” to bring the popular companions back.
He told Blogtor Who:
“You could never eliminate the possibility of dream sequences and flashbacks, but will the Doctor see them again? No.”
Moffat said that he wanted to give Amy and Rory a “proper ending” when writing their final episode, The Angels Take Manhattan.
“Bringing back things just gives you sequel-itis. Just end it and get out. Heaven knows if they’ll appear in some form of flashback – I have no plans to do that I have to say – but the story of Amy and The Doctor is definitively over.”
Arthur Darvill, who played former companion Rory Williams, said in an interview with Digital Spy:
“I’m so busy at the moment that I don’t know if I’d be able to.”
“But I’m very loyal to Doctor Who – I saw Steven Moffat recently and I think he’s brilliant. He’s one of those people that if he ever asked me to do anything, I’d do it.”
