Today the BBC have officially revealed that Sarah Jane Adventures guest star and ex Coronation Street actor, Suranne Jones will be making an appearance as a young woman named ‘Idris’ in Doctor Who next year, in an episode penned by Neil Gaiman.
You might remember her from The Sarah Jane Adventures in ‘Lisa’s Revenge’, where she played an evil version of the famous Mona Lisa.
Neil Gaiman, writer of the episode she is to feature in said:
Suranne is marvellous. She’s beautiful, funny and strange. It’s the kind of role that people will remember forever, so we needed someone who was able to pull that off, and to keep up with Matt Smith. And bite him. Suranne does all three.
As an actor, it’s hugely exciting to be cast in Doctor Who. I’m a massive fan of the show and I was blown away when I read Neil’s script and uncovered what’s in store for my character
We believe that Suranne will begin filming this Friday.
She is also to appear alongside David Tennant in ‘Single Father’, coming soon to BBC One.
