The final ratings for the Series 11 premiere, The Woman Who Fell to Earth, have been released.
The episode had 10.54 million viewers after a week of catch-up on TV devices, a rise of 2.34 million from the overnight figure of 8.2 million. That puts Jodie Whittaker’s debut past those of Peter Capaldi (9.17 million), Matt Smith (10.08 million), and David Tennant (9.84 million).
It’s the eleventh best rating earned by the revival series, but, impressively, the third-best rating for a non-Special episode, behind just Rose (10.81 million) and Journey’s End (10.57 million).
Doctor Who was second for the week, its highest chart placing since the 50th Anniversary Special, behind only Strictly Come Dancing. However, when ‘four screen’ ratings, which include computer, mobile and tablet iPlayer views not counted in the traditional final rating are included, the episode rises to 10.9 million, which puts it above Strictly and therefore in the top spot for four screen ratings. The breakdown of that rating can be seen below:
The final rating for The Ghost Monument will be released next Monday.
