There has been a lot of talk about Doctor Who writer Mark Gatiss appearing in the Christmas special this year. However, he isn’t the only writer to have added himself into the episode.
Mark Gatiss has written himself into 5 episodes and plays 4 different characters in Doctor Who. Seeing the popular writer in one of the story lines is no longer a surprise. However, some were excited to see his fellow writer Toby Whithouse while viewing the trailer for Twice Upon a Time, this year’s holiday special.
Whithouse has written 7 episodes of Doctor Who which include School Reunion, The Vampires of Venice, The God Complex, A Town Called Mercy, Under the Lake/Before the Flood and The Lie of the Land. He is also known for his Tourchwood work Greeks Bearing Gifts and his appearances in Doctor Who Confidential.
Whithouse appears to be playing a German officer and can be seen where Gatiss and he are in a hole aiming firearms at one another, clutching his chest, possibly shot. This moment is frozen as the Doctors team up to fix time itself. Will they succeed? Will the German officer survive? We’ll have to wait and see what happens in December.
